Two leaders of associate organisations of the ruling Awami League have filed two cases with Sadar police station accusing nearly 500 people including the district Juba Dal president and general secretary over Saturday’s clashes between the leaders and activists of the AL and the main opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party in the district town.
Patuakhali district Juba League joint general secretary Md Nasir Uddin filed one of the cases on Saturday night while Patuakhali Government College unit Chhatra League leader Raihan Hossain filed the other case at the same night, the Sadar police station officer-in-charge Md Maniruzzaman said on Sunday.
Nasir, in his case, named 16 leaders of BNP front organisations and 200 to 250 unnamed people for attacking the AL leaders and activists on Patuakhali municipality office premises on Saturday morning.
Raihan also named 29 BNP leaders and activists and 200 unidentified others in his case and alleged that the BNP activists attacked them on College Road area in the district town at about 10:30am on Sunday.
